April 10, 2009 Spring

This is my first spring in the DC area and I have been patiently waiting for the Cherry Blossoms.  Since my sister moved here three years ago, she has been bragging to me about the beautiful Tidal Basin when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.  Well, I finally got to see for myself this year and it was everything I hoped for (minus the crowds!  Next time I’m going at sunrise when normal people aren’t awake).  It was a beautiful afternoon and I brought my camera along.  While I’ve never been super gifted in the art of still life photography and/or landscapes (mostly because I don’t have the patience it takes, which is why I’m a wedding photographer), I always like to try.  I pulled out two of my favorite, but highly under used lenses – my Lensbaby and my 50mm f/1.4 – for some awesome depth of field and blur effects.

I’m so happy to say that Spring is finally here.  Now lets hope the rain holds off tomorrow for my portrait session!

Enjoy!

  1. Those cherry blossom pictures are awesome- Welcome to Virginia! You are going to love it! :-)

  2. Michelle,

I love your new site and blog! I’m actually in the process of changing some of my activities. I find myself helping out more and more nonprofits, (which I love) but I am doing a few weddings. I hope that the day you have your big event I can attend! You are my personal hero and it looks like you are doing great!

I wish you nothing but the best. If I am in the DC area or you make it up to Boston and need an assistant, I’ll be more than happy to help!
