Yesterday I photographed my last wedding of the 2009 season. Bittersweet to say the least.
Thankfully the weather held off all day. It was a heartfelt day filled a lot of love and sincerity. Ashley and Dusty are two incredibly caring and giving individuals and they were WONDERFUL to work with and an absolute joy to photograph. The wedding was held in Vienna with the reception at Meadowlark Gardens where the fall foliage is now in peek color. It really was a perfect end to a fantastic season, made even better by my fabulous associates for the day, Kim and Astrid, who kept the day interesting to say the least (Astrid did some extreme driving for me and I’m pretty sure there was a moment where my life flashed before my eyes as I thought we were about to get side swiped by a car as we made a very illegal U-turn…all for the sake of the photos though!)
I can’t wait to share the complete story of Ashley and Dusty’s wedding day with you, but today I am in a bit of a rush. I am heading off to FSK Mall in Frederick MD to photograph Kids are Heroes Day. It is an inspiring organization and I encourage you to take a look at what these amazing kids are doing to make a difference in our world. For now though, I’m just going to leave you with one image from the wedding. Something I’ve recently been striving to do at my weddings is to create one epic portrait. For me, this is a portrait that conveys a strong sense of place and mood. When I saw this spot yesterday I knew the image I knew I wanted to create the minute I saw the location and the sky.
Take a look.
