I’m constantly asked, “Where should we do our engagement photos?”
When I was planning Allen and Diane’s engagement session with them, they were a bit uncertain as to where we should photograph it. They mentioned that they spent a lot of time in Clarendon, but also enjoyed hanging out by the DC monuments together. Cute couple. Washington Monument in the background. Nice, but a bit, well, let’s be honest here…boring. But Clarendon – now there’s an interesting idea. At first glance, once might dismiss this neighborhood for an engagement session – after all, it’s best know for it’s bar scene, but upon second glance, Clarendon is more than cheap drinks and Sunday brunch. It’s brightly colored walls in Mexicali Blues, a blossoming tree in front of a quaint house down some random side street, a condo parking garage door and best of all, a taxi cab parking lot with amazing, gorgeous, sunset light.
So to answer the question first posed, “Where should we do our engagement session?” ANYWHERE. Be fun. Be creative. But most of all, be different.
You might be surprised what is waiting around the corner of some seedy-looking bar…

I love these. What a great, colorful, fun session!
