I love engagement sessions. I love them even more when I get to shoot them in Old Town. When I first moved to Virginia, I knew I wanted to live in/near Old Town because for me, it’s is the perfect combination of the old and the new. It’s historic with beautiful architecture and cobblestone streets, yet still incredibly rich in food and culture. I also adore it because for every Starbucks and McDonalds you see, there are probably 5 independently owned small businesses run by people just like you and me!
But enough about a city. The real focus of this post is Paul and Sandy. When Sandy and I were discussing where to have their engagement session, we determined that she wanted bright colors and photos on/near the water, so Old Town was a no brainer. When we first started the session, I could tell that both her and Paul were a bit nervous at first…after all, they had just met me and here I was asking them to make out in the middle of a public street! But after some coxing, they eased into it and from there on out, the session was piece of cake. Paul and Sandy are so photogenic and have great personality in front of the camera, even though I’m sure they’d tell you differently.
I actually did this session a few months ago, back in May and there is a little interesting story that goes with it. After the session, when it came time to order, I got an email from Paul. See, Paul lives in CA while Sandy currently lives here. Paul had contacted me because he wanted to surprise Sandy with a Canvas Wrap of one of the engagement photos for their anniversary. Everything was taken care of and the Canvas Wrap ordered when no more than 10 minutes later, I got an email from Sandy. SHE ALSO wanted to order something special for Paul for the anniversary. I was like, “uh-oh!” What if she picks the same one!!! Luckily, Sandy picked a different image, but it was so funny to me how in sync the two of them were that they both had the same thought and emailed me within minutes of each other. How cute is that?!?
Enjoy the photos! Day 3 of Engagement Session Marathon!
